As noted last week (see Superman Costumes in the Marketplace: December 2008, Part 2<\/a>), GovernmentAuction.com<\/a> offered for sale a Superman costume marketed as “original” and “worn by Christopher Reeve” in the movie, Superman<\/em>.\u00a0 Today this costume sold at public auction for $92,200.00 ($101,420.00 including the 10% Buyer’s Premium).\u00a0 The eBay Live Auctions bid history shows 36 floor bids, starting at $50,000.00.<\/p>\n

As noted in the prior article, there appeared to be additional information on the poster board behind the mannequin in the marketing photo provided, reading “Letter of Authenticity Included”.<\/p>\n

I sent inquiries to seller GovernmentAuction.com – through the eBay “Ask Seller A Question” tool as well as directly via e-mail (info@governmentauction.com) – to obtain details as to the source of the Letter of Authenticity.<\/p>\n

I received no responses.<\/p>\n
