Mario Kirner, a collector of original props and wardrobe from the Friday the 13th series of films, has published a series of articles analyzing some props\/costume parts trading in the marketplace that he feels are not consistent with what is seen on screen nor the confirmed authentic pieces in private collections.\u00a0 This analysis can be found on his website, FridayThe13thProps.de<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The first in the series of articles examines swatches of fabric from the costume worn by “Jason” in the “Part 8” film.\u00a0 The full analysis can be found on the FridayThe13thProps.de site<\/a>, but here is the photo taken by Mario showing one of these fabric swatches on top of a confirmed authentic shirt for a direct comparison:<\/p>\n

The second article in the series examines the prop machetes with Certificates of Authenticity from Kane Hodder, who played “Jason” in many of the films.\u00a0 Mario claims that the handles on these prop machetes do not match those seen on screen in the four films he reviews, but states that they are of the same style as those sold by Hodder as autographed “fan memorabilia” (not original props) at conventions for $150.\u00a0 Again, full details and analysis can be found at the FridayThe13thProps.de<\/a> site, but below are some comparison photos produced by Mario in his analysis:<\/p>\n

I have not seen any of these films and am not familiar with the props, so I do not have any insights to contribute to Mario’s analysis.\u00a0 My hope is that by directing hobbyists to Mario’s articles, those with experience\/insights into these films might be able to provide additional information.<\/p>\n
