Julien\u2019s Auctions are pleased to announce their upcoming \u201cHollywood Legends\u201d auction which will feature an important collection of personal and career items from the Estate of Patrick Swayze.<\/em><\/p>\n

Swayze was born and raised in Houston, Texas. A natural athlete, he excelled at any sport he set his mind to including track & field, football, and swimming. His mother was a local dance instructor who instilled his early love for ballet. After his dreams of a career in football were cut short by a high school injury, he turned his attention toward dance. In the early 1970s Swayze moved to New York City where he continued his training with the Harkness and Joffrey ballet companies. It wasn\u2019t long before he began performing on stage in roles in Goodtime Charlie, Westside Story and as Danny Zuko in the hit musical Grease. In 1979, Swayze starred in his first Hollywood film, Skatetown U.S.A. and subsequently appeared The Outsiders, Uncommon Valor, and Red Dawn among others. Swayze\u2019s athletic prowess, handsome good looks and emotional honesty allowed him to portray characters who were strong and confident, while at the same time compassionate and sensitive; a personage clearly reflected in the now iconic films Dirty Dancing, Ghost, Point Break, and Road House.<\/em><\/p>\n

In his personal life as in his movie roles, Swayze confidently faced every challenge head on. In 2008, after being diagnosed with cancer, he fought valiantly for nearly two years before passing away at the age of 57.<\/em><\/p>\n

The collection offered by Julien\u2019s Auctions will include such highlights as the legendary leather jacket from Dirty Dancing ($4,000-$6,000); two BMI Award certificates for the hit song \u201cShe\u2019s Like the Wind\u201d from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, which Swayze co-wrote ($1,000-$2,000); his original script from his guest appearance on Saturday Night Live ($600-$800); a silk shirt worn by Swayze in Ghost ($2,000-$4,000); a custom built surfboard from Point Break ($4,000-$6,000) and many more items.<\/em><\/p>\n

Join Julien\u2019s on April\u00a028-29, 2017 for property from the rowdiest, roughest and most beloved celebrities, assembled in one sale at the 2017 Hollywood Legends auction. The auction features Property from the Estate of Patrick Swayze, star of Dirty Dancing, Point Break, Road House and Ghost, who was quite a real cowboy in his personal life. Property includes items from Swayze\u2019s personal and professional life including highlights: Patrick Swayze\u2019s leather jacket from the film Dirty Dancing (Estimate: $4,000-$6,000); his shirt and shoes from the iconic film Ghost (Estimate: $2,000-$4,000); Patrick Swayze\u2019s Golden Globe nomination certificate (Estimate: $800-$1,200); a collection of script packets from Season\u00a016 of Saturday Night Live when Swayze hosted (Estimate: $600-$800); a Patrick Swayze Point Break worn O\u2019Neill wetsuit (Estimate: $2,000-$4,000); a Point Break film used surfboard (Estimate: $4,000-$6,000) and his Point Break skydiving gear (Estimate: $1,000-$2,000).<\/em><\/p>\n

Cowboy genre items included in the auction are from Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal\u2019s wardrobe worn in the 2005 Oscar winning film Brokeback Mountain. These costume pieces are being offered for the first time and are accompanied by production photographs taken on set of the stars in the ensembles. ($4,000-$20,000). John Travolta\u2019s Urban Cowboy Western shirts are also vying for toughest costume on the auction block ($800-$4,000), as are Rambo\u00a0III prop knives custom designed to Sylvester Stallone\u2019s personal specifications. Also featured is the King of Cool, Steve McQueen, whose 1972 Honda motorcycle ($50,000-$70,000) along with his 1969 racing jacket ($40,000-60,000), top them all.<\/em><\/p>\n

Doris Roberts became everyone\u2019s Mom in her portrayal of Marie on Everyone Loves Raymond. But Roberts\u2019 life was far more complicated and interesting as evidenced by the Property from her Estate. From friendships with some of the greatest authors of our time to her outstanding art collection and beautiful costume jewelry, it is obvious that comedy was only a small part of Roberts\u2019 legacy.<\/em><\/p>\n

Other highlights in this auction include: a platinum blonde wig worn by Marilyn Monroe as Roslyn Taber in her final 1961 completed film The Misfits (Estimate: $20,000-$40,000); a Marilyn Monroe personal vanity case ($1,500-$2,500); a selection of items from the career of Barbra Streisand including her Funny Girl (1968) traveling jacket (Estimate: $2,000-$4,000); a gown worn by Barbra Streisand as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl (Estimate: $2,000-$4,000); and Daniel Craig\u2019s James Bond dinner suit designed by Tom Ford for Spectre (2015), with the embroidered label sewn into the interior pocket that reads \u201cTom Ford\/Daniel Craig\/Bond 24\u201d (Estimate: $50,000-$60,000).<\/em><\/p>\n
