Kennedy following his assassination in 1963 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.barrett-jackson.com\/application\/onlinesubmission\/lotdetails.aspx?aid=403&amp;ln=1277&amp;pop=0&amp;it=1\" target=\"_blank\">Barrett-Jackson Lot: 1277 &#8211; 1963 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE AMBULANCE<\/a>).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In this case, news and opinion website jalopnik.com (essentially a Gizmodo-style website about cars) published articles Thursday and Friday challenging the authenticity of an ambulance offered for sale by the famous car auctioneer, Barrett-Jackson.<\/p>\n<p>The news site called out the ambulance as a fake, and later published <a href=\"http:\/\/www.professionalcarsociety.org\/forums\/showthread.php?t=4201\" target=\"_blank\">a detailed analysis based on work from the Professional Car Society<\/a> as well as responses from the auction house.<\/p>\n<p>The full story can be found at Jalopnik:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/jalopnik.com\/5739333\/president-kennedys-ambulance-is-a-fake\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>The JFK Ambulance Is A Fake<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/jalopnik.com\/5740112\/barrett+jackson-stonewalls-over-jfk-ambulance\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Barrett-Jackson Stonewalls Over JFK Ambulance<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/jalopnik.com\/5740787\/fake-jfk-ambulance-sells-for-120000\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Fake JFK Ambulance Sells For $120,000<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Barrett-Jackson published statement on Friday on their news website, but as of the writing of this article it <a href=\"http:\/\/news.barrett-jackson.com\/barrett-jackson-releases-statement-on-jfk-ambulance-to-be-sold-at-scottsdale-auction\/\" target=\"_blank\">appears to have been removed<\/a> (though can still be read <a href=\"http:\/\/webcache.googleusercontent.com\/search?q=cache:exgkSwuotEYJ:news.barrett-jackson.com\/barrett-jackson-releases-statement-on-jfk-ambulance-to-be-sold-at-scottsdale-auction\/\" target=\"_blank\">via Googe cache<\/a>).\u00a0 Below is an excerpt from their statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Despite all our diligence on this issue, we are unable to either confirm or refute with certainty whether the vehicle offered for sale at auction tomorrow was in fact the vehicle that transported President Kennedy\u2019s casket and his family members.
