Bergman is known for many classic, Swedish language films such as The Seventh Seal<\/em>, Wild Strawberries<\/em>, Scenes from a Marriage<\/em>, Cries and Whispers<\/em>, Persona<\/em>, and more.<\/p>\n

BERGMAN POSSESSIONS UP FOR AUCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

On September 28, 2009, personal property of the legendary Swedish theatre director and filmmaker Ingmar Bergman will be up for auction at Bukowski\u2019s in Stockholm. The special sale offers items from Bergman\u2019s isle of F\u00e5r\u00f6 home.<\/p>\n

The auction, initiated by Bergman\u2019s family, will be held in accordance with Ingmar Bergman\u2019s last wish, expressed in his will as follows:<\/p>\n

– \u201cThis is my wish and no discussion or emotional tumult must come as a result.\u201d<\/p>\n

The auction viewing at Bukowski\u2019s will be open to the public from September 24 to September 27, with selected lots displayed during the summer.<\/p>\n

The interest in obtaining personal effects of Ingmar Bergman is expected to be large. Tom \u00d6sterman and Erik Ingare, responsible for the auction at Bukowski\u2019s, emphasize Ingmar Bergman\u2019s enormous importance to the national as well as to the international theatre community.<\/p>\n

Several pieces of interesting furniture are up for auction, among these Ingmar Bergman\u2019s desk, where he wrote several of his scripts. Other highlights are items related to the world of film and theatre: prizes, awards and costume design illustrations. Of special interest is a black and white Bergman portrait, photographed by Irving Penn in 1965, selected as auction-catalogue cover. Among the notable art is also a lithograph portraying Strindberg, signed Edvard Munch.<\/p>\n

A key item is Ingmar Bergman\u2019s magic lantern. Furthermore there is a decorative figurehead, the prime source of inspiration for the production-company Cinematograph\u2019s logotype, also featured in the movie Persona.<\/p>\n
