{"id":12113,"date":"2009-04-18T16:10:34","date_gmt":"2009-04-19T00:10:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.originalprop.com\/blog\/?p=12113"},"modified":"2009-05-20T12:06:26","modified_gmt":"2009-05-20T20:06:26","slug":"global-antiques-auction-depot-la-update-victim-secures-18000-settlement-deferred-judgment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.originalprop.com\/blog\/2009\/04\/18\/global-antiques-auction-depot-la-update-victim-secures-18000-settlement-deferred-judgment\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Global Antiques&#8221; &#038; &#8220;Auction Depot LA&#8221; Update: Victim Secures $18,000 Settlement &#038; Deferred Judgment Following Lawsuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.originalprop.com\/blog\/?p=12113\" target=\"_self\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12116\" title=\"global-antiques-auction-depot-la-los-angeles-superior-court-x380\" src=\"http:\/\/www.originalprop.com\/blog\/dylsoagh\/2009\/04\/global-antiques-auction-depot-la-los-angeles-superior-court-x380.jpg\" alt=\"global-antiques-auction-depot-la-los-angeles-superior-court-x380\" width=\"380\" height=\"116\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.originalprop.com\/blog\/dylsoagh\/2009\/04\/global-antiques-auction-depot-la-los-angeles-superior-court-x380.jpg 380w, https:\/\/www.originalprop.com\/blog\/dylsoagh\/2009\/04\/global-antiques-auction-depot-la-los-angeles-superior-court-x380-300x91.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of the lead investigations conducted last year involved &#8220;original&#8221; memorabilia offered for sale with certificates of authenticity from &#8220;Global Antiques&#8221;, signed by Greg Jones.\u00a0 Pieces were sold on eBay via\u00a0 &#8220;Auction Depot LA&#8221; and &#8220;Auction Shop USA&#8221;.\u00a0 These accounts were suspended by eBay, and one of the collectors who purchased a number of items from these companies\/individuals filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court.\u00a0 Today, I am happy to report that she prevailed in her quest to secure an $18,000 settlement and deferred judgment against Greg Jones of &#8220;Global Antiques&#8221; and Adam Ward of &#8220;Auction Depot LA&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Auction Depot LA and Auction Shop USA were found to have been selling ordinary vintage and modern day items as &#8220;authentic&#8221; pieces used in classic film and television and\/or owned by Hollywood celebrities and\/or other famous public figures, with COAs from &#8220;authenticator&#8221; Greg Jones operating as &#8220;Global Antiques&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Full details in past articles about the case as it happened last year can be found by accessing the below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.originalprop.com\/blog\/?cat=1170\" target=\"_blank\">Global Antiques, Auction Depot LA, Auction Shop USA<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These events were subsequently covered in the mainstream media by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.originalprop.com\/blog\/?p=4205\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Times<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.originalprop.com\/blog\/?p=4642\" target=\"_blank\">Antique Week<\/a>, and other media outlets.<\/p>\n<p>Collector Debbie Nickerson has in the past provided updates to the Original Prop Blog (see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.originalprop.com\/blog\/?p=3014\" target=\"_blank\">&#8230;Customer Comments<\/a>) as to her experience in pursuing criminal and civil charges against the individuals participating in these activities.<\/p>\n<p>As Deb noted in one of her updates  (see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.originalprop.com\/blog\/?p=4010\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Global Antiques&#8221; Update from Deb<\/a>), one of the two eBay sellers that she bought the &#8220;Global Antiques&#8221; items from &#8211; Auction Shop USA &#8211; reimbursed her in full at the time of the initial investigation:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Auction Shop USA is in great standing with me now. They have reimbursed me for everything I was out. PLUS, and more important, they have been 100% cooperative with my investigation into the fraudulent acts of Auction Depot LA and Global Antiques. It is my opinion that Adam Ward of Auction Depot LA and Greg Jones of the ficticious &#8220;Global Antiques&#8221; were in collaboration in regard to the fraudulent props. Auction Shop USA discontinued ALL selling of the props when they were first contacted by the police and have never sold another item since. They have cooperated with law enforcement in this matter and been cooperative and understanding with the victims. This cannot be said of Adam Ward who continued to sell the props to the point of opening new ebay accounts to sell them.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Conversely, &#8220;Auction Depot LA&#8217;s&#8221; Adam Ward had instead <a href=\"http:\/\/www.originalprop.com\/blog\/?p=2928\" target=\"_blank\">created a second selling account, &#8220;Historic Souvenirs&#8221;<\/a>, which was ultimately <a href=\"http:\/\/www.originalprop.com\/blog\/?p=3150\" target=\"_blank\">shut down along with &#8220;Auction Depot LA&#8221; Stipulation for Settlement and Deferred Entry of Judgment<\/h3>\n<p>Debbie Nickerson filed a lawsuit against Adam Ward (&#8220;Auction Shop USA&#8221;) and Greg Jones (&#8220;Global Antiques&#8221;) in September 2008.\u00a0 Her allegations included fraud, negligent misrepresentation, rescission of contract, and unfair business practices.<\/p>\n<p>A settlement was reached in March 2009 in which the Defendants agreed to pay Ms. Nickerson $18,000.00 &#8211;
