George R.R. Martin Reports Autographed “Game Of Thrones” Screenplays Donated for Charity Auction Stolen

Critically acclaimed science fiction, fantasy, and horror writer, George Raymond Richard Martin, has reported on his website that he believed two original and autographed screenplays from the HBO series, Game of Thrones, were stolen in transit.  As the author of the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series of fantasy novels, upon which the Game of Thrones series were based, the production had sent the two shooting scripts (signed by writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and director Alan Taylor) to Mr. Martin to use to auction and raise money for charitable causes.  When he received the parcel from the U.S. Postal Service, included was a pre-printed form letter apologizing for damage to the package and both scripts were missing. Forrest J. Ackerman: 1916-2008

Forrest J. Ackerman passed today at age 92.  One of the most influential people in science fiction and fantasy, Mr. Ackerman was well known as a writer, editor, publisher, literary agent, collector, and more.  He died in his home in Los Angeles today of heart failure. [Read more…]
