San Diego Comic-Con 2018: Marvel Entertainment Thursday/Part 2 “Captain America” Costume Exhibit

This is part of my ongoing coverage of San Diego Comic-Con 2018. Marvel is centrally located in the Exhibit Hall as per usual, though the exhibit space had original costume pieces up front and in a case this year, which is a departure from their usual open air displays up on the stage. I suspected Marvel might have more up their sleeve than what appeared on exhibit on Preview Night on Wednesday – Iron Man costumes – and stated if they added more as the convention went on, I would update that original article.  On Thursday, they added an example of each of the Captain America costumes seen in the related films, and I took so many photos I thought it would be better to publish a second dedicated feature.  This one shows the Captain America costumes worn by Chris Evans in Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers: Infinity War.  UPDATE Also see Wednesday/Part 1 with Iron Man, Friday/Part 3 with Thor and Part 4/Saturday “Women” & Part 5/Sunday “Villains”. San Diego Comic-Con 2018: Profiles in History Movie Props and Costumes Exhibit Showcases Future Auction Highlights

This is part of my ongoing coverage of San Diego Comic-Con 2018. San Diego Comic-Con 2018: Prop Store TV & Movie Props and Costumes Exhibit Promotes Upcoming Live Auction

This is part of my ongoing coverage of San Diego Comic-Con 2018.  Prop Store continues to put together impressive exhibits at Comic Con, and 2018 might be their best yet.  Most of the space in 2018 is dedicated to their “Treasures From Film and Television” live auction in London on September 20th.  Also on display are some masks from their current online exclusive Power Rangers auction. San Diego Comic-Con 2018: Marvel Entertainment Wednesday/Part 1 “Iron Man” Costume Exhibit

This is part of my ongoing coverage of San Diego Comic-Con 2018. Marvel is centrally located in the Exhibit Hall as per usual, though the exhibit space had original costume pieces up front and in a case this year, which is a departure from their usual open air displays up on the stage.  But knowing Marvel, they do have a tendency to change things up each day and there may be more coming (and if that is the case, this feature will be updated).  This year on display as of Preview Night, they had an Iron Man Mark I costume from the original Iron Man as well as a helmet and civilian costume worn by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in Avengers: Infinity War.  UPDATE also see Thursday/Part 2 with Captain America, Friday/Part 3 with Thor and Part 4/Saturday “Women” & Part 5/Sunday “Villains”. Han Solo Blaster from “Return of the Jedi” Sold By Julien’s Auctions for $550,000 to Ripley’s Believe It Or Not

As mentioned back in April, I had assisted Julien’s Auctions in cataloging “The James L. Schoppe Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Production Archive” that was featured in their “Hollywood Legends” auction this past weekend at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.  The highlight of the collection was an original Han Solo blaster movie prop from Return of the Jedi; James Schoppe served as the Art Director on the film, and was gifted several original props at the conclusion of the film production.  The collection was sold in live auction on Saturday, June 23rd, and the Han Solo blaster sold for $550,000 including Buyer’s Premium, and the winning bidder was Ripley’s Believe it or Not.  I was actually present for the auction, as well as shot video of some of the lots, so I thought I would share a few thoughts as well as the video of the Han Solo blaster selling [Read more…]
