I did not learn of this auction promoted by Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers until now, which appears to have taken place on 03/27/2011 Australia time (yesterday). While the title of the auction is “Costumes & Props from Major Fantasy Movie”, there is a page on their official website with photos entitled “Narnia”. Propworx, known for their auction of original props, costumes, and other production material from Battlestar Galactica, has now begun selling entertainment memorabilia from the Stargate franchise on eBay on behalf of MGM, with plans of holding two live auctions selling such material in the future. As reported back in May, Premiere Props is hosting their “Massive Car and Movie Prop Auction” next weekend, August 15th, in Los Angeles at LA Center Studios. Auction service provider iCollector has at least some of the catalog online, featuring over 300 vehicles, props, and costumes used in film and television and other Hollywood memorabilia. [Read more…]

In the wake of the death of Michael Jackson last Thursday, and the coincidental (long-scheduled) “Summer Sale” of original entertainment memorabilia which took place in Las Vegas over the following two days, the sale of 21 lots of Jackson-related memorabilia with provenance identified as from “The Collection of David Gest” has prompted significant mainstream media coverage as well as a threat of lawsuit by Mr. Gest.
