Julien’s Auctions has published the online catalog for their upcoming sale – “Hollywood Legends: Featuring Property from the Career of David Hasselhoff” – which will be held at their Beverly Hills gallery on April 11th and 12th. The auction will feature property from the career of David Hasselhoff, the estates of Jonathan Winters and Greta Garbo, and consignments with proceeds marked for a variety of charitable causes as featured in the new unscripted Lifetime series, Celebrity Home Raiders. As noted in my interview with Troika Brodsky, the owner of the Lord of the Rings collection consigned to Julien’s Auctions, we have been friends for around a decade, so I was particularly interested in this auction. Julien’s Auctions held their “The Trilogy Collection: Props and Costumes from Middle-Earth” sale event this past Thursday, which featured 92 lots of original production assets from the Lord of the Rings trilogy of films made by Peter Jackson. Following last month’s development of a jury rejecting a lawsuit by collector Richard LaPointe over the canceled “Neverland” auction of Michael Jackson memorabilia, Julien’s Auction has now filed its own complaint against Live Auctioneers, the online bidding service provider for the event. The new complaint, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, cites two causes of auction – breach of contract and negligence. [Read more…]
Today the Beverly Hills Courier published the latest breaking news about the ongoing legal action brought by collector Richard LaPointe against MJJ Productions, Julien’s Auctions, and others. According to the news story, the “jury today rejected a lawsuit in which a collector of celebrity memorabilia maintained that a Los Angeles auction house broke a contract to sell him 14 items that belonged to Michael Jackson“, following 30 minutes of deliberation.
