eBay Pulls Authentic Prop from Charity Auction; Unlicensed Replicas of Same Prop Okay…

As noted last month (see The X-Files: “Gillian’s Charity Auction”), Gillian Anderson has offered a great number of memorabilia items and “event/experiences” for auction on eBay, with all proceeds benefiting a number of excellent charity causes.  The highlight of these auctions is a set of the FBI credentials used by Ms. Anderson in her role of Dana Scully in the television series, The X-Files.  Yesterday, eBay canceled this auction due to a violation of policy…  yet today, as well as historically, unlicensed and copyright infringing copies of this authentic prop are freely listed and sold on the auction service website. “My Name Is Earl” Custom Chooper – $42,000.00?

As mentioned previously, NBC Universal’s fifth wave of direct from the studio auctions focused on the television series, “My Name Is Earl”. Third Wave of NBC Universal Studio Auctions Live

NBC Universal is hosting a third wave of direct from the studio auctions starting today, March 3, 2008. The first two sets of auctions listed included original props, wardrobe, and set-pieces from Heroes, The Office, 30 Rock, Friday Night Lights, and Las Vegas.

This wave of auctions includes offerings from Heroes, 30 Rock, Friday Night Lights, Law & Order (New to Auction), and The Jay Leno Show (New to Auction). Present previously but missing this time are pieces from The Office and Las Vegas (this series is now canceled). [Read more…]
