Bonhams will be holding a special event next month, “What Dreams Are Made Of: A Century of Movie Magic at Auction as Curated by Turner Classic Movies” (auction 21427). As mentioned in past articles, the NRA’s National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Virginia has been hosting a “Hollywood Guns” exhibit this year, and now a 46-page catalog of the pieces on display has been made available. Bonhams will be holding their “Pioneers of Popular Culture” event (Sale 18524) on August 15th at the inaugural Goodwood Vintage Festival in the UK. Though original props and costumes are nearly non-existent among the 273 lots in the auction, the two key pieces present are important and impressive: a three-piece suit worn by Jack Nicholson in Tim Burton’s Batman (Lot 192) and an ape costume from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey (Lot 193).
