Prop Fedora from “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” Realizes $19,500 in charitybuzz Auction

An original fedora made for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sold for $19,500 in an auction hosted by charitybuzz.  The piece, signed by Harrison Ford, was donated by George Lucas and, per the auction description, came from his personal collection.  The proceeds benefit The RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights. Analysis: Indiana Jones Fedora, Bullwhip, Jacket with “Lucas Film Ltd.” Certificate of Authenticity (“DNA Authentic”)

The Prop Store of London provided information today regarding an Indiana Jones costume (fedora, jacket, and bullwhip) being offered for sale in the marketplace with a “Lucas Film Ltd.” Certificate of Authenticity which appears to be a fraudulent document made using the distinct Warner Bros. “DNA Authentic”style COA as a model along with a photo of a genuine costume from the Lucasfilm archives. Dual Forbes Magazine Articles on Michael Shaw, Joseph Maddalena, The Wizard of Oz

There are two new features today on Forbes.com related to the original prop collecting hobby.  One, “Behind the Scenes with an Obsessive Collector”, outlines Joseph Maddalena’s origins of acquiring an interest in collecting movie memorabilia, and his own lifelong pursuit for the broomstick from The Wizard of Oz.  The other, “Inside the Search for Dorothy’s Slippers”, shares the story of the ruby slippers stolen from Michael Shaw in 2005. Indiana Jones News Features Recap: David Morgan, Bernie Pollack

There has been some great news coverage of interest to original prop collectors, prompted by the upcoming release of the new Indiana Jones film.
