Based on recent events on eBay, it would appear that long-time original movie prop dealers Startifacts and Star Wares have had some business conflicts that have spilled over into the public space. Following a rash of eBay negative feedback remarks left for Star Wares, many remarks have been expunged by eBay and the startifacts account now shows a suspended “NARU” status (Not A Registered User). Back when I first joined eBay (over 10 years ago), I remember that member feedback seemed to have real meaning. I believe the original intent behind the system was to quantify how people do business, which would create some semblance of an “online reputation”. [Read more…]
I’ve noticed more and more of late that eBay users will have their accounts converted to “NARU”, or “No Longer A Registered User” (also “Not a Registered User”) status by eBay, and then later the accounts appear reactivated. [Read more…]
All but two of the eBay auction items listed by new eBay seller “Historic Souvenirs” (historicsouvenirs) – more than 50 in total – have been canceled by the seller. Though “Private Listings”, many showed bidding activity, and several were scheduled to end today. Most all of these items, with Certificates of Authenticity from “Global Antiques”, were canceled.
More, the remotely hosted photos of these items have been removed, leaving listings with no photos of the items offered for sale as “authentic” and “original” memorabilia. The eBay “Store” for the account no longer appears to exist either. [Read more…]
eBay has announced a series of policy changes to be implemented over the next few months (thanks to Rik for the heads up):
The most interesting changes to me aren’t related to the “Reduced Listing Fees” or “Rewards for great sellers” but the “Feedback Changes”.
