‘LOST’ Items Not “Lost”; New ‘The Prop Blog’ and Unnamed Source Get Facts Wrong About Upcoming Auction According To Profiles in History

Julien’s Auctions ‘Star Trek’ Catalog Available Online, Part of “Summer Sale” June 2010 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas

Julien’s Auctions next series of Entertainment Memorabilia auctions will be held in Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on June 24th-27th, 2010.  The catalogs are available for purchase and the Star Trek catalog can now be viewed online. Included in the sale is material that is part of the Gene & Majel Roddenberry estate as well as assets from the most recent J.J. Abrams reboot of the Star Trek franchise. [Read more…]

Oklahoma City Museum of Art ‘Sketch to Screen: Art of Hollywood Costume Design’ Exhibit Opens Thursday

As noted over the past few days from links to external stories via the official Twitter account for the Original Prop Blog, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art will be holding their ‘Sketch to Screen: Art of Hollywood Costume Design’ exhibit from May 6 through August 15, 2010.  The attraction will feature 85 wardrobe pieces and accessories used in classic and contemporary films, with a focus on the costume designers who made them. Julien’s Auctions Announces More Details on Star Trek Auction Event, Now Includes Memorabilia from Gene Roddenberry Estate

Debbie Reynolds’ “Hollywood Motion Picture and Television Museum” Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Reorganization Update

The Wall Street Journal and the Knoxville News Sentinel both report that Debbie Reynolds’ Hollywood Motion Picture and Television Museum filed its Chapter 11 plan of reorganization in a Los Angeles bankruptcy court last week, and that “[t]he plan calls for the completion of the museum’s construction, aims to resolve a long-running legal dispute, promises to pay creditors in full and hopes to put Reynolds’ substantial collection… on public view for the first time in more than 10 years“. New Zealand Herald “Fraud of the Rings” Story Gets It Wrong About Original “Lord of the Rings” Movie Prop Collection

Reporter Joseph Barratt authored a news feature in this past weekend’s “Herald on Sunday” (published online by The New Zealand Herald) titled “Fraud of the Rings?” which focused on Troika Brodsky and his collection of original movie props used in the Academy Award-winning Lord of the Rings film trilogy directed by Peter Jackson.  The collector was both surprised and dismayed by the story that was published, questioning his credibility and the authenticity of the pieces in his collection created by Weta Workshop and sourced from highly publicized, direct from the studio sources (New Line Cinema Auctions and a Hasbro sweepstakes contest). Russell Crowe’s “Museum of Interesting Things” in Australia (Photos & Video of Movie Prop Exhibition)

Late last year, the “Museum of Interesting Things” opened at the Nymboida Coaching Station Inn in Australia. Russell Crowe has donated original movie props and costumes from many of his films for display at the museum.  Aaron of HeroProp.com was kind enough to provide photos and videos from his recent visit to share with readers of the Original Prop Blog.
