Oklahoma City Museum of Art ‘Sketch to Screen: Art of Hollywood Costume Design’ Exhibit Opens Thursday

As noted over the past few days from links to external stories via the official Twitter account for the Original Prop Blog, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art will be holding their ‘Sketch to Screen: Art of Hollywood Costume Design’ exhibit from May 6 through August 15, 2010.  The attraction will feature 85 wardrobe pieces and accessories used in classic and contemporary films, with a focus on the costume designers who made them. Mecum Auctions “Original Spring Classic Auction” Features Cars from the Cinema Vehicles Collection, May 19-23 in Indianapolis

Mecum Auctions will be offering select cars from the Cinema Vehicles Collection in their upcoming “Original Spring Classic Auction” on May 19th – 23rd in Indianapolis, IN at the State Fair Grounds.  Included are cars used in film and television include assets from Iron Man, Knight Rider, Charlie’s Angels, My Name is Earl, Terminator 3, and The Hangover. The Houston Classic Weekend Auction Features Batmobile, Batskiboat, Penguin Duckmobile Movie Prop Cars from Batman Returns

April 29th-May 2nd is the “Houston Classic Weekend” auction by Worldwide Auctioneers, and one of the lots features “The Ultimate Set of Collectible Vehicles” from Batman Returns (1990) – the iconic Batmobile, the Batskiboat, and the “Batduck” or “Duckmobile”.  The estimate for the lot of vehicles is $300,000-$400,000. Latest in NRA’s “Curator’s Corner” Video Series Features Set of Movie Prop Guns from Martin Scorsese’s “The Departed”

The NRA’s National Firearms Museum has published another video as part of their “Curator’s Corner” series.  The latest features a set of hero pistols used in Martin Scorsese’s Academy Award-winning film,  The Departed (2006), including pieces used by Leonardo Dicaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, and Jack Nicholson. Prop Fedora from “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” Realizes $19,500 in charitybuzz Auction

An original fedora made for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sold for $19,500 in an auction hosted by charitybuzz.  The piece, signed by Harrison Ford, was donated by George Lucas and, per the auction description, came from his personal collection.  The proceeds benefit The RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights. Brandon Alinger, Prop Store of London – “Gremlins” Animatroic Movie Prop Showcase Video Shorts

During my trip to Burbank last September, I made time for a short visit to meet with Brandon Alinger of the Prop Store of London at their Los Angeles facility.  While at their offices, I took the opportunity to shoot a few brief videos (approximately 1-2 minutes each) with Brandon to feature and provide some background on some of the more interesting showcase pieces on display, including some pieces from Gremlins 2: The New Batch. Julien’s Auctions Announces More Details on Star Trek Auction Event, Now Includes Memorabilia from Gene Roddenberry Estate
