Apologies for the late reporting on Prop Store’s monumental auction last month… I was out of the country for a few weeks and then caught a nasty cold traveling back to the U.S. In any event, in what for me is one of the biggest stories for 2017 is the success that Prop Store had with their latest annual live auction event, which concluded on September 26th. Prop Store has a lot of fans – and real friends – among the prop collecting community, so when they first embarked on launching their live auction business in England in 2014, I know myself and many others were hopeful that they would find some success. This week I received the amazing print catalog for Prop Store’s fourth annual Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction, and the catalog is also now available online as well. It will be held at the London ODEON BFI IMAX on September 26th. The live event features more than 600 lots of props, costumes and other film and television memorabilia. There will be a free three week public exhibition at The BFI IMAX Waterloo from September 7th – 26th.
This is part of my ongoing coverage of San Diego Comic-Con 2017. As usual, Prop Store had the most impressive exhibit for collectors of original TV and movie props and costumes. They updated the layout and look for their space this year and even though it was the same overall footprint, it felt much bigger. Prop Store’s latest online auction featuring 120 props and costumes from T2 Trainspotting will be taking place between April 10th through the 21st, with the catalog going live on the first day of the auction. Yesterday, Prop Store launched their latest online-only auction, this time for Paramount’s G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. The auction, running through February 17th, features many costumes from principal characters in the film, as well as some props, scripts, and other production material.
