Guernsey’s made a splash in the entertainment memorabilia field in March 2008 with their auction event comprising the sale of “The Pugliese Collection“, which garnered significant mainstream media coverage (including The Today Show) and some very impressive prices realized on certain lots. Bonhams will be holding their “Pioneers of Popular Culture” event (Sale 18524) on August 15th at the inaugural Goodwood Vintage Festival in the UK. Though original props and costumes are nearly non-existent among the 273 lots in the auction, the two key pieces present are important and impressive: a three-piece suit worn by Jack Nicholson in Tim Burton’s Batman (Lot 192) and an ape costume from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey (Lot 193).
