Casino Royale Bond Watches Sell at Public Auction
Antiquorum held its Omega-themed auction on April 14th and 15th in Geneva this past weekend.
Of the collector pieces included in the public auction were two original prop watches worn by Daniel Craig as James Bond in Casino Royale.
The first of the two Casino Royale pieces was the Seamaster (Lot 299):
Omega, “Seamaster, Professional, Co-Axial, Chronometer, 300m/1000ft”, No. 81735282, Ref. SU 168.1630. Prototype, made in 2005. Worn by Daniel Craig during the filming of “Casino Royale” in 2005/2006. Very fine, rare, and important tonneau-shaped, self-winding, water-resistant, center seconds, stainless steel diver`s wristwatch with date, helium escape valve, blue bezel graduated for the decompression times, and a stainless steel Omega brick-link bracelet with deployant clasp. Accompanied by the original box and Certificate of Authenticity.
The second of the two Casino Royale pieces was the Planet Ocean (Lot 300):
Omega, “Seamaster Professional, Co-Axial, Chronometer, 600m/2000ft”, “Planet Ocean”, No. 81084716, Ref. SU 168.1650. Worn by Daniel Craig during the filming of “Casino Royale” in 2005/2006. Very fine, rare, and important, tonneau-shaped, self-winding, water-resistant, center seconds, stainless steel diver`s wristwatch with date, revolving black bezel for the decompression times, and rubber strap with a stainless steel Omega buckle. This watch is sold with the original box, Certificate of Authenticity, and 3-year Omega guarantee.
The prices realized for each of the two pieces is staggering:
The Seamaster realized 60,000 chf (70,800 with buyer’s premium) – $49,500 ($58,500 w/ premium)
The Planet Ocean realized 215,000 chf (253,700 with buyer’s premium) – $177,140 ($209,000 w/ premium)
Also at auction, related to original props, were a Seamaster worn by Pierce Brosnan in Tomorrow Never Dies (70,000 chf/82,600 chf ~ $57,680/$68,050).
