Prop Store Offers For Sale Harry Potter’s (Daniel Radcliffe) Hero Invisibility Cloak Movie Prop

April 1, 2012 By Jason DeBord

Today, Prop Store listed an interesting item from the popular Harry Potter series of films, the main character’s “hero invisibility cloak”.  It seems to be a rare piece from the movies, but having never personally seen any of the movies myself, or handled the wardrobe piece first hand, I cannot verify the claims that it can be screen-matched to the same piece as seen (or not seen?) in the series.  It is also not clear from the description what would distinguish this item, attributed as the hero piece, from any of the stunt versions of the cloaks.

Below is the description from the official Prop Store website:

Harry Potter’s (Daniel Radcliffe) Hero Invisibility Cloak

Stock # 24223

“You’re a Wizard, Harry”

The Prop Store is incredibly proud to present Harry Potter’s hero invisibility cloak used throughout the entire series of the worldwide phenomenon that is the Harry Potter movies. This is one of the most memorable pieces from the series, and only one of these cloaks was ever made due to the extraordinary level of skill required to create such a powerful magical device. It features right from the very first movie, Philosopher’s Stone, when an anonymous person gifts what is revealed to have been his father’s old cloak to him at Christmas, and becomes one of the trio’s most useful tool in sneaking around Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry causing mischief, and is used right through to the final installments aiding Harry and his pals in defeating the Dark Lord, He Who Must Not Be Named (*cough* Lord Voldemort *cough*).

An astounding level of skill and attention to detail has been put into this unbelievably stunning piece, and has to be seen and held in person to fully appreciate the wonderful nature of the garment, even the best cameras can not do it justice. It features beautiful shimmering hand embroidered magical and astrological patterns across the delightfully silky surface and incorporates various colours to create the fantastic illusion, even the intricate needlework around the hem is a credit to the costumer maker’s/Wizard’s ability. It fastens around the neck with a simple metal clip and easily covers the body right down the the ankles (please note – tall customers may have to crouch to achieve full invisibility coverage).

It took gruelling months of research, countless contacts and a great deal of searching to unearth this wonderful piece of movie history, mostly as it has a habit of disappearing on a regular basis on account of its power to become invisible! It would have been listed to coincide with the final movie’s release but we lost it for several months. It deserves to go to a home that will truly appreciate this amazing piece’s beauty for all it’s worth and give it the level of top security it deserves. As you can see from the stills it screen matches perfectly to the numerous scenes it was used in, and is still in exceptional condition even after years of use on the film sets.

As an added bonus it has been signed in person by David Yates, Harry, John Williams, Dumbledore, Hagrid, Bill Nighy, Lord Voldemort, Rupert Grint, Barty Crouch Jr, Dobby, Bellatrix Lestrange, Warwick Davis, the Golden Snitch and the entire Irish and Bulgarian International Quidditch Teams.

Customers would please request a shipping quote before ordering as this will require a bespoke shipping service to ensure it doesn’t vanish in transit (again).

This item comes with a Prop Store Certificate of Authenticity.

Because the item was already reserved when it was listed on the site early this morning, I am unsure of the original asking price.

The item and all photos can be found on the Prop Store website:
