Premiere Props Updates “Hollywood Auction Extravaganza” Online Catalog with 500 More Lots for Day Two of Sale

Premiere Props has added approximately 500 additional lots to their online “Hollywood Auction Extravaganza” catalog, which comprises “Day 2” of their two-day live auction event to be held April 2nd and 3rd.  The additional movie and television memorabilia pieces include a mix of direct from studio assets and presumably consigned pieces from a variety of alternate sources.  [Read more…]

St. Louis Symphony Orchestra Hosting “Lord of the Rings” Concert Event; Original Movie Prop Exhibit & Collector Video Interview

The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra will be presenting another series of concert performances featuring music from the Lord of the Rings trilogy of films.  As was the case in 2008, there will be an extensive exhibit of original props and costumes from the movies on display for the benefit of those attending the event. Lloyds Auctioneers & Valuers Hold Auction in Australia Yesterday for “Costumes & Props from Major Fantasy Movie” (Chronicles of Narnia)

I did not learn of this auction promoted by Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers until now, which appears to have taken place on 03/27/2011 Australia time (yesterday).  While the title of the auction is “Costumes & Props from Major Fantasy Movie”, there is a page on their official website with photos entitled “Narnia”.  A news article by Gold Coast News reports that the material sold was from The Chronicles of Narnia, The Voyage of the Dawn Trader. Salt Lake Tribune Details Role of BYU in Cecil B. DeMille ‘Ten Commandments’ Film Archive, Contribution to Blu-Ray Release

An article published in today’s Salt Lake Tribune provides a history of Bringham Young University’s role in preserving an incredible archive of production material from Cecil B. DeMille’s The Ten Commandments (1956), as well as the role of Utahns who were involved with the film and the famed director’s respect for their reception of his classic film.  [Read more…]

Cinémathèque Française Hosts Exhibition on Stanley Kubrick Through July 31st, Features Original Movie Props and Costumes

Yesterday the Cinémathèque Française in France began their incredible Stanley Kubrick exhibition, which includes the display of original props, costumes, and production material from his classic films.  The attraction will run through the end of July.  The traveling exhibition has previously been presented in various cities since 2004, including Berlin, Zurich, Gand, Rome and Melbourn. Beverly Hills Courier Reports on Partial Settlement of Michael Jackson Memorabilia Lawsuit with Collector Richard LaPointe

Today the Beverly Hills Courier published an update on the ongoing legal action brought by collector Richard LaPointe against MJJ Productions, Julien’s Auctions, and others.  Per the article, Michael Jackson’s estate will sell LaPointe 64 of the 80+ items under dispute, which were pulled from public auction in 2009 when the entire sale was canceled following a settlement between MJJ Productions and Julien’s Auctions in their own legal dispute.
