Profiles in History “Hollywood Auction 37” High Resolution Photography

“LOST” Images from Disney’s D23 Expo, Exhibit by Profiles in History Promoting May 2010 Auction

As reported back in June (see “D23 Expo” at Anaheim Convention Center in September 2009 to Feature “Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives”), Disney held a fan expo this past weekend.  Included among the exhibits was one from Profiles in History which promoted the upcoming final season of LOST as well as their subsequent auction of original props, costumes, and other assets from the hit television series. Charges of Fraud Rock The Collectible Movie Poster Market and Hobby

Various reports have surfaced in recent weeks about a scandal involving what experts claim are counterfeit ’30s-’40s horror movie posters, window cards, and lobby cards.  Some reporting on this story estimate that several million dollars worth of this material has been sold and traded into the marketplace, which has purportedly resulted in at least two lawsuits. 20th Century Props: Auction Redux with Super Auctions, September 11th-14th

Following a significant amount of mainstream media coverage, 20th Century Props held an auction of its assets July 28th-August 1st, which was managed by Great American Group.  Various reports have surfaced today announcing a follow-up auction of these assets, to be held September 11th-14th by auctioneer Super Auctions. Judge Sentences eBay Fraudster to Over One Year in Prison

U.S. District Judge Peter C. Dorsey today sentenced a Connecticut man, who plead guilty to committing fraud on eBay, to one year and one day in prison.  He also ordered that he pay over a quarter of a million dollars in restitution, perform 150 hours of community service, and have three years of supervised release, following the completion of his prison term.  [Read more…]
