eBay’s *stoneark*: Another Name Change & Duplicate Listings With Different Attributions

December 8, 2008 By Jason DeBord

As a short update to the *stoneark* (AKA stonark, AKA Corner Collectibles) articles, a reader pointed out to me today that there are two active and concurrent eBay listings depicting the same dress, but with two different attributions – to both Myrna Loy and June Harver.  Additionally, eBay’s *stoneark* (formerly stonark, sans “e” and asterisks) have changed their company name from Corner Collectibles to Cornner Collectibles (now with two “n’s”).

Matching Dresses

This is similar to the previously reported instance of two versions of the same dress (two different colors) being attributed to two actresses (Linda Darnell and Marlene Dietrich – see stonark / *stoneark*: More Questions About Sources & Provenance), but in this case, it is the same wardrobe item using the exact same photo (though two different file names) and exact same descriptions (apart from attribution and noted film):

“Corner Collectibles” Name Changed To “Cornner Collectibles”

In addition to the recent eBay account name change from stonark to *stoneark* one month ago (see eBay’s stonark Changes User ID To *stoneark*), it appears that owner Anthony Shkutnick has changed the company name listed on his eBay “ME” page from Corner Collectibles to Cornner Collectibles (spelling “Cornner” with two “n’s” instead of one).

Below is a comparison of the stonark eBay “ME” page as of August 11, 2008 and the (now) *stoneark* eBay “ME” page as of today, December 8, 2008:

As can be seen in the comparison detail below, “Corner Collectibles” was changed to “Cornner Collectibles” (two “n’s” on “Cornner) in all three uses on the page:

The following content was removed from the eBay “ME” page between August 2008 and December 2008, along with recent feedback remarks at the footer:

Looking for that different piece of film or TV memorabilia! We just might have what your your LOOKING for!.

Again, the details of the questions raised about the provenance accompanying wardrobe, props, and other memorabilia sold by *stoneark* can be found in the latest compilation article:

  • eBay’s stonark AKA *stoneark* AKA Corner Collectibles, Version 2.1

All related articles can be found here: Market Watch | stonark /*stoneark* (Corner Collectibles)

Also of note is that Saturday, eBay “Trust & Safety” removed a topic from their own discussion forums which raised questions about the provenance of the items that this member is selling:

  • eBay Deletes “Trust & Safety” Discussion Topic About *stoneark* (AKA stonark, AKA Corner Collectibles)

This eBay seller currently has 250 items actively listed for sale.  With starting bids of $99, that is nearly $25,000.00 in merchandise scheduled to end within the next 7 days.
