Superman The Movie Costume S shield

To whom it may concern:

The S emblem is one of the original emblems from a Superman walking cape.  Cape was in distressed condition and emblem was removed to salvage.  Emblem is yellow with black thread.

During the late 1980’s to early 1990’s I had the pleasure of assisting Salkinds production in their Adventures of Superboy television series.  As a model for the Superboy costume, we were given access to the original Superman costumes of Berman’s of England.  This emblem was given to me as a gift.  The above is true and correct.

Based on matching letters, this appears to be the same “S” emblem offered for sale on the website hollywoodheritageprops.com.  The website currently appears to be disabled, but I archived the related collateral in February 2008.

Christopher Reeve Superman Screen Used Flying Costume

This is one of the Superman flying costumes as denoted by the side vents above the red trunks and the teal blue color, used for the blue screen special effects in the Christopher Reeve Superman films.
This is one of the costumes originally acquired by MGM costumer Ana Mungia, who worked as the head costumer on The Adventures of Superboy. This was presented and given to Ms. Mungia from the Salkinds during her work on their Superboy production. The Superman costume has the “S” logo on the chest, unitard (that has “CR Flying” inscribed on the inside neckline in marker) and tights and also Superman cape. with black snaps on the shoulders and yellow “S” logo. This piece of movie history comes with a letter of providence signed by Ana Mungia.

There is an additional current auction for a Superman costume, outside of eBay, but that will be the subject of a stand alone article.
