This is a follow-up to previous articles (see kellysheroesmilitaria Original Props…, Update 1, Update 2, Update 3) in which original prop auctions by “kellysheroesmilitaria” on eBay were compared with matching items available for sale from online retailers, as well as non-movie prop purchases made on eBay by “kellysheroesmilitaria” and items that appear to match being offered for sale as original props under the same eBay account. A reader drew my attention to a new set of auctions, which is followed by a note about eBay third party reporting in practice.

This is a German Luftwaffe WW2 Complete Uniform, you are bidding on the Jacket and Pants and Cap, the Jacket is approx. a L and the pants are a 32-34. These show minor signs dirt but no tears or rips noted. They are a bit dirty/dusty and have been kept in plastic since I acquired them. They include a nice Certificate Of Authenticity which is so nice you can frame it.
This is a complete uniform set, and what is shown in the photos are what is included in this auction. Worn at the end of the movie at the surrender of the Germans at the airfield.

eBay Third Party Reporting: A Case Study
Two weeks ago, I published an article titled, “eBay & Third Party Reporting (Fraud, Violations of Policy)“.
In my studies of the eBay service, I found and identified two methods by which third parties (i.e. not seller nor buyer) could report suspect and problematic listings to eBay to contribute towards promoting a safe and honest marketplace:
eBay Listing Report – “Fraudulent listings”:
- Click on “Report this listing” within the listing
- Choose “Reason for Report” -> “Fraudulent listing”
- Choose “Detailed Reason” -> “You suspect that a listing is fraudulent you didn’t bid”
- Complete the report
eBay Policy Report – “Authenticity Disclaimers” [or other policy violations]:
- Go to “Authenticity Disclaimers“, or another applicable eBay Policy
- Click on “Report listing violations or problems with another eBay member”
- Complete the report
At the time I published that article – July 18, 2008 – I used those mechanisms to report some of the questionable “kellysheroesmilitaria” listings identified in prior articles, with links to the research presented in those articles.
I received automated e-mail acknowledgments of these reports immediately following their submissions, and no communication since.
