It’s only been a few days since “Part 1” of the look at Superman costumes offered for sale in the marketplace this month, but I’ve come across a few more eBay listings.
The subjects of this article are costumes and costume parts attributed to use in the Superman films of the 70s-80s starring Christopher Reeve and characterized as “original” and “authentic”.
Already the subject of independent articles are two items consigned to two different public auction house events, both in June:
- Christie’s “Superman III Cape” (June 2008 Auction)
- Bonhams “Superman IV Flying Suit” (June 2008 Auction)

Interestingly, the belt sold in this auction appears very different from the belt that collector Matt Bailer posted photos of, that was sold to him by Jim Hambrick of the “Super Museum” (see “Collectors Seek Information About Superman Belt, Superman Cape“).
