HBO Begins Series of Weekly Online Auctions of Original Memorabilia from “Entourage” as Cable TV Series Airs Final Season

HBO is holding an online auction at The HBO Shop for a small number of lots of original production material from their Entourage cable television series, which is currently airing its final season.  This week marks the first of three weeks of auctions.  Lots available for sale at auction include material related to the fictional movies depicted in the series, which has aired for eight seasons and features the popular cast of characters Vincent Chase, Eric Murphy, Johnny Drama, Turtle, and Ari Gold. Dynasty Auctions Company Offers Bruce Lee Memorabilia at Hong Kong Auction Event August 5-7

Thirteen items attributed to past ownership by Bruce Lee will be part of Dynasty Auctions Company and their Summer 2011 sale event August 5-7  – “China, Hong Kong, Japan and Other Asia Stamps and Postal History”.  The auction is a joint effort between Kelleher Auctions and Phila China.  Included in the sale is a 45 year old letter by Lee discussing the then upcoming television series The Green Hornet (in which he played Kato) as well as a fur coat that Lee, per a story in today’s The Standard, wore in his audition for the 1973 film Game of Death (though the auction description states it was made for a film that was to follow Enter the Dragon). As reported back in June, RM Auctions (in association with Sotheby’s) offered at auction “The James Bond Car” – a 1965 Aston Martin featured in the James Bond films Goldfinger and Thunderball, starring Sean Connery. “Shall We Play A Game?” Original IMSAI 8080 Computer Movie Prop from WarGames to be Sold

As covered by the Original Prop Blog back in 2008 (see “WIRED WarGames Roundtable, Original IMSAI 8080 Computer”), WIRED magazine published an article about classic 80s film WarGames (1983) starring Matthew Broderick.  The article included an image of the original IMSAI 8080 computer that was used in the movie, which was remarkable in that the prop was saved and preserved for over a quarter of a century.  I’ve learned in recent weeks that this piece of motion picture history will soon be made available for sale, so this serves as a notice to the original prop community in advance of further details. Classic Car Auction Company Kruse International Rates “F” with Better Business Bureau Leading Into Labor Day Event

The News-Sentinel in Fort Wayne, Indiana reports that classic car auction company Kruse International has been the subject of numerous complaints with the Better Business Bureau by consignors who claim that the auction house has failed to make timely payments on sold goods.  Owner and CEO Dean Kruse acknowledges the problem and pledges that debts owned to consignors from past events will be paid following this Labor Day’s annual auction event. Duke’s Auctioneers sold a collection of letters from James Bond author-creator Ian Fleming in their “Important Paintings and Furniture” live auction event yesterday. The event, running April 10-11, 2008 also includes “original works by George Stubbs, Pablo Picasso, Alfred Munnings; signed prints by Matisse and Andy Warhol, and other watercolours, sketches and oils spanning the 18th to 20th centuries”.
