“Out of this World” Original Movie Prop Exhibit at The California Museum – High Definition Video
October 15, 2009 by Jason DeBord
I had an opportunity last week to visit the touring “Out of this World: Extraordinary Costumes from Film and Television” exhibit, which opened at the California Museum on October 3rd. As has been reported in the past, this traveling exhibition includes original props and costumes associated with Paul Allen (co-founder of Microsoft) and Science Fiction Museum in Seattle, Washington.

UPDATE 10/16/09:
The California Museum has today requested that I remove/disable the videos presented as the subject of this article, based on their agreement with the Science Fiction Museum and out of concern that potential visitors will not attend the exhibit if they can view the videos online.
While the videos themselves, produced by myself, are my own copyrighted content, and I was not asked nor did I agree to not take video of the exhibit at the time of my own visit, their request was both friendly and sincere, so I have agreed to disable the video content.
Apologies to those who may stumble upon this article only to find that there is no video content to be found. It is an awesome exhibit and the California Museum has many other wonderful attractions in addition to the “Out of this World” exhibit that are well worth experiencing. I encourage everyone to check it out.

Last week I published high definition still photographs of the exhibit:
Below are two videos depicting the props and costumes on display at the California Museum. Still photos are great, but sometimes it is nice to have some complimentary video to give those who cannot attend an idea of what the pieces look like on display.
The first of the two videos provides a brisk “walking tour” of the items as on display, to give a sense of the exhibit area.
The second of the two videos provides quick “pan and scan” close-up showcases of each item on display.
